Happy Focke-ing New Year

Once the Swiss Miss, Le Jug and the micro-MiGs are done, I’m planning to dive into a good old Focke Wulf Fw 190. But I’m absolutely torn as to which one I should build…below are the three variants/schemes I’m considering…check ’em out and let me know what you think!

Fw 190A-7 (Eduard 1/48)

Fw 190F-8 (Tamiya 1/48)

Fw 190A-8/R-2 (Eduard 1/48 or Hasegawa 1/32)

Knowing you, the 1/32 A8/R2 would make you most happy.

I too vote for the 1/32. For selfish reasons, I’d like to learn how you do the motle camo on the fuselage.

  3. #3, A8/R2. This is one bad-ass camo pattern !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that the motle camo technique would be cool to see. I also like the white wash fuselage one. Getting that to look right would be awesome to see as well. Any of those kits would be interesting to see a build write up. What is your ranking of the fit/detail quality of the four kits.

  5. Thinking the A-8/R2… but the A-7 is a close second.

  6. Doug Wares says:

I’d go for the A7. I’ve an A6 which I’m about to do, when I’ve finished the Eduard 109E1 and plan to do more Eduard 190s.

I like the armored up A8. A 1:32 A8/R2 (EagleParts Conv) is destined for my bench very soon.

    Fw 190F-8 (Tamiya 1/48)
