P-51B Mustang

Vital Stats

  • Manufacturer: Tamiya
  • Scale: 1:48
  • Aircraft: North American P-51B Mustang
  • Markings: Don Gentile’s “Shangri-La” | 4th Fighter Group | 8th Army Air Force | March 1944
  • Aftermarket: Eduard PE seatbelts | Ultracast exhaust manifolds

Tamiya’s P-51B was the first kit I built on my re-introduction to modeling, and I don’t think I could have made a better choice. The tooling of this kit – the detail, the fit, everything – is just phenomenal. The only downside that springs to mind would have to be the decals, which were thick and not at all eager to snuggle down into and over surface detail.
